A major industrial gas project at Yangkou Chemical Industrial Park in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province, is on track for a trial operation before Oct 1. The 68-meter distillation tower was installed on Aug 14, marking a key milestone.

Since breaking ground in March, the project has progressed at a swift pace. Main buildings have been topped out, and over 70 percent of the work on core systems is complete. A 14-km dedicated nitrogen pipeline is also under construction.

With 200 million yuan ($27.8 million) invested by Rudong Surun Gas, the facility is set to produce 120,000 metric tons of liquid nitrogen, 57,000 tons of liquid oxygen and 4,200 tons of liquid argon each year upon completion, with annual projected sales reaching 280 million yuan. The high-purity gases will serve the electronic specialty gas market.

The centralized pipeline gas supply system is set to cut gas costs by 40 to 50 percent for park enterprises, replacing expensive self-built units. The first-phase pipeline covers all major enterprises in the park's first two phase zones. Thirteen companies have signed contracts.

Over 40 more have expressed interest. Liquid products will also be delivered by trucks within a 200-km radius, reaching multiple cities across the region.

Local authorities have provided dedicated support for land use and infrastructure coordination, with strict quality controls ensuring long-term safety. The project is set to boost the park's industrial infrastructure and support the growth of the county's fine chemical sector.
