Rudong county in East China's Jiangsu province is advancing key sector reforms and further opening-up to promote high-quality marine economic development.

A key priority is to build on Yangkou Port's strengths as an open gateway for trade, enhance its logistics infrastructure and equipment, and expand both international and domestic routes to strengthen the port's overall competitiveness.

Zhou Liang, secretary of the Party Working Committee of Rudong Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone, said that the zone is committed to its new mission of driving port development through industrial growth and synergizing port-industry interactions.

In the next phase of development, Zhou said that efforts will focus on enhancing the port's supporting infrastructure, with a key project being the commencement of the Jinniu Terminal's access channel and breakwater construction in the third quarter, while expediting the approval for the second phase of the Jinniu Terminal, with construction targeted for next year.

He underlined the need to push for the acceptance of the Jinniu Terminal as a facility to expand opening-up, with the goal of passing national inspections by the end of the year in order to assist port-based enterprises in expanding into international markets.

In terms of improving the collection and distribution system, Zhou said the county will strive for the inclusion of a third-tier port access channel of Yangkou Port in the provincial construction plan.

By constructing a multi-modal transport system integrating road, rail, water, and air, the county aims to significantly boost the port's comprehensive competitiveness and play a leading role in the county's marine development strategy, he said.
