The sea use application for the navigational channel and breakwater project at the Jinniu Terminal Area of Yangkou Port in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has been officially approved by the provincial department of natural resources.

The project includes a navigational channel and two breakwaters. The channel, designed to accommodate one-way passage of 50,000-metric-ton bulk carriers, spans about 12.83 kilometers. The breakwaters will be built on both sides. The eastern side, connected to the existing access channel, will extend about 6.68 km seaward, while the western side, linked to its counterpart, will extend about 7 km.

As a vital maritime gateway for vessels entering and exiting the Jinniu Terminal Area, the project will ensure reliable sea transportation for local industrial enterprises.

The project is expected to bolster Nantong's coastal region in hosting high-quality transfer industries and building a modern coastal industrial hub.

With the project officially approved, local authorities will now speed up the remaining procedures to get work started as soon as possible.
