Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) — widely recognized as the core pathway to carbon-neutral aviation — was the focus of an industry forum held on June 24 in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province.

The event gathered supply-chain experts and corporate representatives from home and abroad to discuss potential collaboration opportunities and strategic directions for the emerging sector.

Rudong's Yangkou Port, a first-class port located at the convergence of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the coastal development corridor, is positioned as an "Energy Island and Industrial Port". The Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone has ranked among China's top 30 chemical industrial parks for the past six consecutive years. With its mature green chemical infrastructure and diverse biomass feedstock, the zone offers end-to-end support for SAF projects, from technological R&D to commercial production.

The zone has been named one of Nantong's first (near-) zero carbon pilot parks and aims to be certified as a national zero-carbon park during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–30). Abundant green electricity and hydrogen resources within the zone will help SAF producers secure international carbon footprint certification, paving the way for global market access.

At the forum, local officials presented the zone's investment advantages, including its multi-modal transport network, integrated port-city-industry spatial planning, competitive green clusters, and reliable feedstock supply.

In follow-up discussions, participating companies shared updates on their operations, capacity expansion plans, and technology needs, while also outlining their investment interests and expectations for future partnerships.
