Leveraging its unique green energy resources, Rudong county in Nantong, Jiangsu province, is accelerating the development of green computing power.

With a new energy installed capacity of about 8.3 million kW, including nearly 4.83 million kW of offshore wind power, Rudong is Jiangsu's first county to generate over 100 billion kWh of new energy electricity.

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) cold energy at its Yangkou Port can be directly supplied to smart computing centers for cooling, giving Rudong a competitive edge in the Yangtze River Delta.

At a promotional event held in Suzhou on July 15, two major computing projects with a total IT load exceeding 600 MW were signed, including the China Telecom Yangtze River Delta Computing Hub (Yangkou Port) project and a green smart computing project.

The county has set an overall planned capacity target of 1GW for its computing park. To drive this ambition, it established a special task force and rolled out an industrial plan without delay.

Looking ahead, Rudong plans to build a specialized AI industrial park and is advancing a zero-carbon industrial chain integrating wind, solar, hydrogen, storage, cooling, computing power, and manufacturing.

Meanwhile, a carbon emission smart monitoring center in the park will ensure full traceability of companies' carbon footprints, aiming to set a green computing benchmark in the Yangtze River Delta.
