Rudong county in Nantong, Jiangsu province, is building a modern, multi‑modal logistics system anchored by Yangkou Port.

Three operational zones at the port now offer eight open berths capable of receiving international vessels over 50,000 DWT. The port has established seamless connections between berthing, pipeline transmission, production, and outbound shipment, effectively lowering costs for local industries.

The newly operational Jinniu Terminal has filled a critical gap in heavy equipment and bulk cargo handling, extending the port's reach to the wider Yangtze River Delta region.

Beyond port infrastructure, Rudong has tackled fragmentation in its logistics sector. In 2022, a digital platform was launched to consolidate scattered transport resources. The platform now connects a dozen logistics companies and serves over 40 industrial enterprises.

Through AI‑driven dispatching, fragmented shipments are consolidated into full truckloads, significantly reducing empty‑load rates and lowering costs. A three‑tier safety system ensures reliable transport for hazardous and long‑haul routes.

Rudong has also expanded outward. Short‑haul shuttles link multiple towns, while extended routes reach Wuxi, a major national hub, integrating Rudong into the national freight network. A riverside steel hub has further increased bulk handling capacity.

Through port expansion, digital integration, and network extension, Rudong has turned its strategic location into an efficient logistics ecosystem serving local industries and the broader regional economy.
