Nantong University has achieved its strongest showing yet in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists list 2026, with 12 researchers named to the Career-long Impact category and 48 to the Single-year Impact category.
Compiled by a research team at Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, the ranking acknowledges researchers whose work has had a significant impact in their fields. It includes two categories: the Career-long Impact list, which assesses research impact throughout a scientist's career, and the Single-year Impact list, which evaluates research impact over the previous year.
The ranking draws on Scopus data and evaluates approximately 10 million scientists worldwide using a range of citation-based indicators, including total citations and citations to papers on which researchers are single or first authors. It covers 20 major disciplines and 174 subfields, identifying researchers whose citation impact places them among the top 2 percent globally.
Nantong University said the latest results reflect its continued efforts to attract and develop research talent and strengthen its research capabilities. The growing number of faculty members included in the ranking also points to the university's expanding research profile and international visibility.
Looking ahead, the university plans to foster greater collaboration across research teams, create a stronger environment for academic development, and support researchers in pursuing high-impact work and producing more influential research.
