"I am so happy I'm finally able to move to a new house", said Wang Weiping, a local resident of the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.
Relocated residents in the zone selected houses on Oct 15, when 1,787 resettlement houses were distributed to residents.
Authorities in the zone's Haihong community prepared for gift packages filled with items such as elevator safety guidelines and gas safety instructions.
The new resettlement community, which has a 35 percent greening rate, is also equipped with surveillance cameras, an access control system and smart charging poles for electric vehicles.
Wang Jianchun, Party secretary of the Haihong community, said that the local government will make further efforts to help relocated residents who used to live in rural areas adapt to the new environment.
Building resettlement houses is part of efforts to improve people's wellbeing, said a local official.
