A volunteer group has recently been set up in Gangzha district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, in an effort to help local families in need during spring ploughing.

The group mainly consists of young Party members and ex-servicemen in the district. They provide targeted support to local households that are short of strong laborers or have difficulties in farming.

When learning that Ni Zhiqiang and his wife, two local residents over 80 years old, the volunteers went to their home on March 17. They helped weed the field where the couple grown broad beans and sowed soybean seeds.

Although the volunteers are not experienced in farming, they worked hard in the field and were a great help to Ni's family during the spring ploughing period.

The local government also sends needed materials, offers technological support and promotes useful information to guarantee the smooth processes of spring ploughing.
