17th Rudong People’s Congress opens

The third session of the 17th Rudong County People's Congress opened in Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on Jan 22, with 320 delegates in attendance.
Chen Changlong, chairman of the Standing Committee of Rudong County People's Congress, presided over the meeting.
Chen Huiyu, deputy head of Rudong county, delivered the annual work report of the county-level government, highlighting several significant achievements the government has made.
Throughout last year, Rudong focused on upgrading and transforming its industries, as well as developing infrastructure and tackling pollution, Chen said.
During his presentation of the work report, Chen also outlined the roadmap for economic and social development in 2019.
The county is aiming for an increase of 7.5 percent in GDP this year.
He promised the government will continue to promote the quality development of real economy and push forward the upgrading of industrial structures.
The government will also deepen rural reforms to promote the growth of the rural economy, Chen said.
Improving people's livelihood will continue to be a focus of the county's government. The county will invest more to establish a social security network to enhance people's sense of happiness.
