10 offshore wind farms approved for Rudong
A total of 10 offshore wind farms have recently been approved in Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, by the provincial Development and Reform Commission.
The new ecofriendly installations include Jiangsu Xinneng Haili Offshore Wind Power Program, Haixiang Offshore Wind Power Program, and Sanxia New Energy Program. They are expected to be operational within the next three to five years.
The total installed capacity of these wind farms is expected to reach 3 million kilowatts.
And the benefits are not expected to be confined to Rudong, with an additional 13 wind farms approved for sites across the province.
At present, wind farms in the county generate 3.8 million kilowatts of electricity, with total investment in them reaching over 60 billion yuan ($8.76 billion).
