Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province is looking to further expand its green energy sector and become known as a hub for the industry, according to Shen Junfeng, Party secretary of the county, during a meeting held on Jan 22.
The meeting was held to discuss the development of new sources of energy and was attended by members of the 15th Rudong Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Attendees discussed environmentally-friendly sources or power such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) programs, offshore wind farms and piped natural gas.
Chen Jianhua, president of CPPCC Rudong committee said that the booming new energy industry is generating wealth and creating new jobs for the county.
Shen noted that Rudong is an ideal location to develop the industry, making the point that it has already managed to establish the largest offshore wind farm in Asia.
It is vital that government departments work together to ensure that the development of the industry continues, he added.
