TV drama brings Chongchuan's historic sites, local flavors into spotlight
The hit TV drama Jianghai Chaosheng, or Zhang Jian — The Legendary Entrepreneur, has attracted tourists to Chongchuan district, Nantong. The following spotlights some of the show's filming locations and the local cuisine featured in the drama.
Nantong Museum
Zhang Jian (1853-1926) founded the Nantong Museum in 1905, making the location China's first public museum. The drama shot its pivotal scenes at Haonan Bieye, a building within the museum grounds where Zhang once hosted guests, held meetings and discussed collection matters.

Dasheng Cotton Mills
In 1895, Zhang established the Dasheng Cotton Mills, whose clock tower and factory buildings remain mostly intact. The clock tower not only signaled shift changes but also functioned as a fire alarm.
