Shanghai Hongjun New Materials, a technology research and development enterprise specializing in metal organic compounds, has chosen Rudong county in Jiangsu province as its manufacturing base.

The core team of the company originates from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with the chief scientist being a professor from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In 2024, under the "Shanghai incubation + Rudong industrialization" model, it became the first collaborative project to settle in the Yangkou Chemical Industrial Park, one of China's top‑30 high‑end chemical parks.

The firm's core product – high‑purity cobalt organic compounds – serves semiconductors, electronics, and high‑activity catalysis.

After years of research and development, the team developed proprietary ligand selection, synthesis optimization, and graded purification technologies, breaking foreign monopolies and improving material performance by 30 to 50 percent.

The Rudong plant, spanning over 5,000 square meters and featuring Class‑A production and storage facilities, is scheduled for full operation by year-end. It will have an annual capacity of 3,500 metric tons and a projected output value of 500 million yuan ($69.4 million).

The location offers three key advantages: proximity to Shanghai for continuous R&D synergy, complete industrial chains for raw material sourcing, and pro‑business government services.

Li Shuai, founder of Hongjun, also received talent support, including an 800,000-yuan housing voucher under Rudong's new talent policy, enhacing team stability.

As a benchmark case, Hongjun attracts upstream suppliers of semiconductor precursors and downstream new‑energy firms, stimulates local R&D investment, and strengthens the regional advanced‑materials ecosystem.

It pledges to bridge more Shanghai‑originated innovations to Rudong, driving high‑quality coordinated development across the Yangtze River Delta.
