Nantong generates over 800m yuan during Spring Festival holiday

Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province hosted over 100 consumer promotion activities during the nine-day 2026 Spring Festival holiday, which ended on Feb 23, highlighting the city's vibrant and dynamic consumer market.

According to monitoring data, 76 key commercial enterprises in the city achieved total sales revenue of 803 million yuan ($116.26 million) during the holiday, a 10.1 percent year-on-year increase.

Complexes such as Mixc and Maple Leaf Town Outlets introduced a variety of consumer promotion activities, including folk performances, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and Spring Festival markets, drawing large crowds of citizens and tourists. Data indicates that 18 key retail enterprises in the urban area recorded cumulative foot traffic of over 2.97 million people, a 10.9 percent year-on-year increase, with total sales reaching approximately 424 million yuan, up 10 percent year-on-year. Activities in Nantong's counties and districts were equally engaging, with the four major commercial areas in Hai'an attracting 1.2 million visitors and generating nearly 100 million yuan in sales.

Nantong's automobile renewal and consumption promotion initiatives distributed subsidies totaling 50 million yuan during the holiday. By Feb 23, 3,795 car trade-in applications had been submitted, totaling subsidies of 39.56 million yuan. In the home appliance and digital product sector, 923 stores across the city redeemed national subsidies of approximately 14.94 million yuan, driving consumption worth 117 million yuan.

The hospitality and dining sectors also experienced high demand. The city's 22 key hospitality and dining enterprises achieved total revenue of approximately 38 million yuan during the Spring Festival holiday, a 6.2 percent year-on-year increase. Notably, the Binjiang InterContinental Hotel reached a 100 percent occupancy rate on the second and third days of the Chinese New Year. At the same time, the Nantong Marriott Hotel's Chinese New Year's Eve dinner generated a single-day income of 186,000 yuan.
