The fourth Venice Weifang International Kite Festival opened on March 27 in the Bihai Yinsha Scenic Area in Qidong – a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – to great fanfare, with a whole host of exciting events and activities to come.

The festival will last for three months until June 30, providing continuous kite-themed activities at Evergrande Venice – the Venice-like water city resort located in the eastern coastal region of the Yuantuojiao Resort in Qidong – during the period.

Fan Tianyong, Party working committee secretary of the Yuantuojiao Resort, said that kite flying is one of the great traditional cultures in China and kite flying is a popular leisure sport among the people.

The international kite festival has been held four times to date. Guests from all walks of life are welcome to come and enjoy themselves in Bihai Yinsha.

During the event, there will be a series of thematic activities such as kite exhibitions, a large-scale kite flying activity, kite painting events and fireworks displays on the beach. There will also be performances and bonfire parties on the beach and other activities especially designed for the May Day holiday, as a warm up to the peak travel season.

With its varying of business forms – it is a large resort town integrating hotels, conferences, sports, food, culture and health facilities – Evergrande Venice has reportedly added more experience programs for tourists, based on original coastal holiday activities. Visitors can now not only enjoy the sea and the beach in the summer, but also revive themselves in hot springs in winter.

During the festival, Evergrande Venice plans to integrate Qidong's local cultural resources with traditional kite culture, aiming to provide tourists with an unforgettable holiday experience.
