A glorious tulip expo kicked off on March 20 at the Yuantuojiao Resort in Qidong – a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – the fourth time it has been held there since 2018.
The 50,000-square-meter site has been divided into east and west areas, exhibiting 1.5 million tulips in 27 varieties. Although the weather was a bit gloomy at the opening, visitors were nonetheless delighted by the riot of vivid flowers.
"The ocean of flowers is so beautiful that I'm sure I will come back sometime," said a tourist from Shanghai.
In addition to admiring the beauty of the tulips, visitors also have access to seven themed recreation areas at the expo. Graffiti walls, trampolines and other amusement facilities are proving very popular with children, while areas themed on food, sports and art are seen as ideal spots for photo enthusiasts.
A rendering of the Party flag, consisting of 10,000 tulip pots, is yet another highlight of the expo.
"We have used tulips, which represent nobility and beauty, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China," said Chen Canghai, president of Nantong Xinhu Property Co Ltd.
"We wish for our country to flourish under the leadership of the Party," Chen added.
