Chongchuan focuses on innovation, industry upgrades
Chongchuan district of Nantong city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, has focused on innovation to upgrade traditional industries, as well as ways to promote emerging industries while working on future industries.
Aligning itself with the construction of the Nantong Yangtze River estuary industrial innovation and green development coordinated zone, the district has nurtured a group of leading enterprises.
It's striving to accelerate intelligent and green development of the manufacturing industry as part of its efforts to develop new quality productive forces.
In 2022, the district introduced a three-year action plan, focusing on policy support and service enhancement to help with digital and intelligent transformation of local business enterprises.
Jiangsu Dasheng Group, home to China's first machine spinning workshop, is acting as a model for intelligent transformation and upgrading in the domestic textile industry.
In the electronic information sector, an integrated circuits industry cluster led by Tongfu Microelectronics has been formed. From January to July, key businesses in the industry supply chain there generated an output value of 21.09 billion yuan ($3 billion), a year-on-year increase of 31 percent.

Over the past three years, Chongchuan has nurtured 874 national technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises and 534 national high-tech enterprises.
In recent years, leveraging its industrial foundation and comparative advantages, Chongchuan has focused on attracting and cultivating growing future industry enterprises. They operate in the spheres of synthetic biology, third-generation semiconductors, high-end plant intervention devices and more.
"We are striving to form a competitive future industry system through five years of efforts, becoming a hub for future industry development and a gathering place for high-quality enterprises," said Shen Bin, director of Chongchuan's bureau of science and technology.
