Chongchuan district in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has been actively working towards enhancing the integrated development of healthcare and aging in recent years.

The district promotes the establishment of elderly care stations within communities and has incorporated eligible stations into the basic care insurance agreement.

To enhance public health services, Chongchuan has increased its public health services budget, reaching a per capita budget of 110 yuan ($15.3) in 2024.

Initiatives such as elderly health management, family doctor contracts, and home-based medical bed services are now tied to project assessment funds. Community care stations meeting standards and operating normally are eligible for a one-time subsidy of 50,000 yuan each.

Meanwhile, subsidies for nursing-type beds in medical institutions have been increased, with monthly allowances provided to nursing staff based on their professional titles, reaching up to 1,000 yuan per month.

All community health service centers in Chongchuan have prioritized elderly patient appointments and established green channels for medical care. The district has also launched the city's first medical service platform embedded in the community integrated healthcare system, known as the Haodong Xiaoyuan Community Health Service Station.

Chongchuan is also actively forming volunteer teams to provide assistance for elderly individuals receiving home-based care. Initiatives like creating elderly-friendly medical institutions are being implemented to optimize the healthcare environment for seniors.

In total, the district has 25 qualified elderly-friendly units and 12 outstanding units, all aimed at better meeting the health needs of the elderly population.

Chongchuan's dedication to the aging care industry has earned it the distinction of being chosen as the sole national demonstration area for integrated healthcare and aging in the city.
