Chongchuan makes strides in biomedicine industry
Authorities in Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, have in recent years been channeling more resources towards its biomedicine industry.
One result of these efforts was the construction of Baoyuehu Healthcare Industrial Park in the district.
The 110,000-square-meter incubation center for new technologies in the park is currently home to more than 50 high-tech wellness companies.
Among them is Jiangsu NowYon Medical Instrument Co Ltd, which has obtained three medical instrument registration certificates since it was founded in 2019.
The certificates were issued by the National Medical Products Administration.
One of the key reasons behind this achievement is the implementation of a series of measures rolled out by the authorities in the zone, such as providing financial support to medical enterprises, as well as establishing cooperative ties with universities like Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University.
Nowyon Medical has so far received subsidies of nearly 2 million yuan ($286,874), which have helped it develop medical devices, such as aspiration catheters, balloon catheters, and microcatheters, said Jia Jing, the general manager of Nowyon Medical.
Listed among provincial potential unicorn enterprises in 2019, Nowyon Medical now has 35 invention patents.
The zone is currently home to 70 major medical enterprises, including Jiangsu Bioda Life Science Co Ltd and Koka (Nantong) Life Science Co Ltd.
