The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu province dispatched a business delegation to Japan and South Korea in late February as part of efforts to attract more investment.

The delegation visited 15 agencies and companies in the two countries, including the Japan-China Investment Promotion Organization, the Consulate General of China in Osaka, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, to introduce NETDA's business environment.

The delegation also visited Toray Group and Asahi Kasei Corporation, both of which have facilities in NETDA, to advance the establishment of new projects.

In addition, the delegation engaged with representatives of Japanese electronic components and South Korean semi-conductor enterprises.

Three enterprises from the two countries have expressed an intent to conduct a field investigation in March.

NETDA will establish investment attraction offices in the two countries, said local authorities, noting that they will focus their efforts on attracting more foreign-funded manufacturing projects and visiting foreign enterprises to learn about their intentions of expanding investment.

NETDA is aiming to secure 20 projects each with an investment of more than $30 million, and growing the actual use of foreign capital to $750 million this year.
