A project focused on the research, development and manufacturing of new energy and environmental protection equipment for ships was signed and established in the Gangzha Economic Development Zone of Chongchuan district on April 22. 

The project is funded by Nantong Yiqiang Machinery Equipment, a company specializing in the R&D, production and sale of marine engineering equipment, including technologies for ocean-going vessel desulfurization, denitrification, carbon capture and liquefied natural gas supply.

The project has a total planned investment of 200 million yuan ($29.28 million). Once completed, it is expected to further promote the marine engineering industry in the district.

Chongchuan district is accelerating the construction of a modern marine industry system. It has cultivated a number of high-quality marine industrial and service enterprises, including Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) and Haiting (Nantong) Shipbuilding.
