Tongzhou booms with holiday crowds

This year, the Qingming Festival holiday followed spring break for students, creating a six-day vacation from April 1 to 6. Tongzhou district in Nantong was bustling with activity — scenic spots at the AAA-level and above welcomed 104,000 visitors, up 9.5 percent from the previous year.

Zhouji Menghuan Island attracted 61,000 visitors, increasing by 64.9 percent year-on-year, becoming the most popular holiday destination in the district. Cherry blossoms on the island were in peak bloom, lining the island's rivers with clouds of pink.

Zhouji Green Expo Garden, visited by 22,000 people, was the district's second most popular scenic area during the holiday. Integrating botanical displays, science education, and ecological leisure, it offered over 8,000 rare plant varieties from around the world, becoming an outdoor classroom where children could explore nature's many wonders.

Flower Town captivated 15,000 visitors with its flower festival. Against the backdrop of cherry blossoms and tulip oceans, visitors immersed themselves in interactive activities such as hanfu parades and kite flying, experiencing springtime romance and traditional culture.

Tuju Camping Site on Kaisha Island received 5,000 visitors, showcasing the potential of a leisurely camping getaway. The site offered various places to stay, including RVs, wooden cabins, and tree-houses, along with recreational options such as go-karts, horse riding, and a rainbow slide.
