Tongzhou Kaisha Island promotes sports-tourism integration
Over 300 players from across Jiangsu province gathered at the China Table Tennis Training Base on Kaisha Island in Wujie town, Tongzhou district, to compete in a table tennis tournament on March 11.
Kaisha Island, an island in the Yangtze River, boasts rich wetlands and tidal flats. Wujie town has leveraged these natural assets as well as attractions like Zhouji Menghuan Island, Tuju RV Camping Base, and the national table tennis base to drive the integrated development of sports and tourism.

Wujie town and Kaisha Island now offer a fully integrated package combining events, attractions, dining, and accommodations. A single ticket provides access to tournaments, scenic spots, golf, and dining deals.
"Through sports events", said an official from the Management Office of the Kaisha Island Tourist Resort , "we aim to attract more visitors and sports enthusiasts from the Yangtze River Delta region and beyond to come explore the island".
By using competitions as a cultural showcase, the island has made sports the driving force behind its tourism economy.
This spring, a series of themed cultural and tourism activities will be held across the island. From cherry blossom festivals to photo contests and kite design competitions, these events will offer visitors richer seasonal experiences than ever.
