Now is the perfect time for spring plowing at sea, as the laver in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province, is experiencing a bountiful harvest.
The seaweed output in Rudong this year is basically the same as last year. In recent days, local farmers have been taking advantage of the tide to rush and pick.
Rudong is the core production area for laver in China. It ranks first in the province for both cultivation scale and yield efficiency, and its output accounts for one-third of the country's total.
Rudong sits on 86 kilometers of coastline and about 69.33 hectares of high-quality mudflat. The Yangtze River and the Yellow Sea converge here, creating a rich mudflat landscape. Along with suitable climate conditions, water temperature, salinity, and water quality, Rudong now ranks as one of China's top areas for laver cultivation.
At present, over 70 percent of Rudong laver products are exported to Europe and the Americas, presenting a fresh and fragrant business card to the world.
