The Rugao Disabled Persons' Federation has made significant strides in providing employment opportunities for disabled individuals through specialized job fairs, skills training, and support for setting up new businesses. These initiatives have collectively benefitted over 700 disabled persons.
This year alone, the federation has organized 10 different training sessions attended by 185 disabled individuals. During one of these sessions, an instructor from Rugao Jianghai Senior Technical School taught participants how to shoot and edit videos, enabling them to engage in e-commerce on platforms like Douyin, a short video platform.
Additionally, the federation has been collaborating with enterprises to launch targeted training programs. After completing the training, participants are assessed by the federation, and those who pass are recommended to partnering companies.
Huaguan Electronic in Rugao's Banjing town employs nearly 300 workers, over 70 of whom have disabilities. "We should take the initiative to shoulder social responsibilities in supporting disabled individuals and strive to create a conducive environment for them," said Shen Changming, the company's general manager.
A handicraft company in Rugao employs 10 disabled workers and provides suitable job positions based on their physical conditions. Many of the workers have become core team members. Among them is sewing machine operator Ma Lihua, who appreciates the favorable working conditions and proximity to her home. "The treatment here is excellent, and it's very close to my home," Ma said.
