Chairman of Chongchuan firm earns recognition in Malaysia
Shi Mingda, chairman of Tongfu Microelectronics Co Ltd, was recently honored with the title of Dato by the government of Penang, Malaysia.
This recognition reflects the Penang government's acknowledgment of Tongfu Microelectronics' contributions to investment and the significant achievements of its factory in Penang.
In 2016, Shi acquired a factory built by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a US-based multinational semiconductor company, in Penang, Malaysia, and established TF-AMD. Since its establishment, the joint venture's revenue has consistently increased, with revenue increasing five-fold since the first year and profits increasing 6.5-fold.
"As of the third quarter of this year, investment in the construction of the Penang factory has approached nearly $1 billion," said a representative from TF-AMD's Penang factory.
As a major high-tech enterprise headquartered in Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, Tongfu Microelectronics has been committed to continuous technological innovation and iterative development.
The company has consistently increased investments, narrowing the gap with international standards in advanced packaging fields. It has already reached a world-class level in several areas.
The company has become a leading enterprise in the semiconductor industry, with advanced integrated circuit packaging and testing production line.
Last year, Tongfu Microelectronics' revenue exceeded 21.4 billion yuan ($2.99 billion), with expectations of further growth this year. Its global ranking is poised to rise from the fifth position to the fourth.
