Textile industry in Tongzhou expands through digital trading platform
Tongzhou district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been accelerating the development of the home textile industry in recent years.
One notable effort it has made is the establishment of the Zhongshi Digital Industrial Park, which serves as a digital trading platform for textile enterprises in Nantong.
The park was funded by Nantong Zhongshi Textile Trading Market Co Ltd and is among the few in the country that combines online and offline trading for bulk commodities like textiles. It provides comprehensive management services for transactions in the upstream and downstream sectors of the textile raw materials industry.
Among the park's first group of clients is Nantong Xujiatong Trading Co Ltd, which has spent 176 million yuan ($24.62 million) procuring various cotton yarns such as compact combed cotton, air-spun cotton, and compact cotton through the park.
In the six months since its opening, over 10 enterprises have joined the park's home textile supply chain, with a total of 100,000 metric tons of cotton yarn entering Zhongshi's warehouse and a cumulative transaction amount of 600 million yuan. The total transaction volume on the platform is expected to reach 3 billion yuan next year.
