Young cuber from Hai'an breaks women's world record
Cao Qixian, a six-year-old first-grade student at Hai'an Experimental Elementary School, shattered the women's world record with an average solving time of 5.97 seconds at the World Cube Association (WCA) International Open held in Singapore on Sept 9.
The international event included participants from 10 countries and regions, including Malaysia, Australia, and the United States.
Cao made history by breaking the women's 3x3 cube average world record, becoming not only the first Chinese individual to achieve this feat but also the only female speedcuber in the world to consistently solve the cube in under six seconds (known as sub6).
Solving cubes is not just a game but also involves elements of mathematics, geometry, and critical thinking. It demands precise coordination between the brain, eyes, and hands, requiring intense concentration.
Cao embarked on her cubing journey at the age of three, and her exceptional talent shone through during the summer of 2021, when she attended a cube-solving acceleration camp.
Looking ahead, Cao is still brimming with confidence. She stated that her next goal is to break the women's single solve world record, with aspirations to become the undisputed holder of the women's world records in cube-solving.
