Rudong boosts innovation for high-quality development
Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been making significant strides in advancing innovation as a key driver of the county's high-quality development.
In recent years, the county has introduced a series of measures to attract tech talent, including 70 new talent-related policies. To bolster its efforts, Rudong has also improved its incentive mechanisms for attracting talent, aiming to encourage both domestic and international high-level management and technology research and development experts to come work for local enterprises.
Last year, Rudong facilitated the recruitment of 17 doctoral-degree holders, 36 master's-degree holders, and over 400 undergraduates for local companies.
Rudong has also been actively expanding its major technology infrastructure, research institutions, and innovation platforms. In the past year, the county added five provincial engineering technology research centers, bringing the total number of engineering technology research centers at the city-level or above to 169.
Additionally, one provincial mass entrepreneurship and innovation space and 30 provincial-level or above technology innovation carrier platforms were recognized last year.
These efforts have propelled local enterprises towards innovative development, with Nantong Changed New Material Co Ltd (CYD) standing out as one company achieving significant milestones in innovation.
The company has made strides in the field of large-sized liquid crystal display backlight technology, resulting in two authorized invention patents and 11 utility model patents, as well as one United States patent.
CYD's product, the quantum dot diffusion plate, received the 2022 SID Best Display Component Product Award and is currently in mass production, being supplied to television brands such as TCL and Hisense.
By nurturing technology and innovation-driven enterprises, Rudong has strengthened the main forces of innovation and enhanced its industrial innovation capabilities.
Last year, the county obtained approval for one national manufacturing item champion demonstration enterprise and two national-level "little giant" enterprises. It also saw a net increase of 45 high-tech enterprises. The output value generated by the high-tech industry accounted for 46.9 percent of the county's total output value.
