The industrial sector in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province, has witnessed remarkable progress in 2023. In the first half of this year, the county achieved industrial taxable sales of 99.54 billion yuan ($13.68 billion), a year-on-year growth of 8.26 percent.

This surge in industrial development can be attributed to local manufacturing companies' embrace of intelligent and digital transformations.

Jiangsu Gangzheng Steel Sheet Science and Technology Co Ltd, for instance, harnessed its independently-developed intelligent production lines to manufacture a new product, magnesium-aluminum-zinc alloy sheets. In the first half of this year, the company achieved taxable sales of 2.09 billion yuan.

Located in the Rudong Economic Development Zone, Jiangdong Alloy Technology Co Ltd is a pivotal material supply base for Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Co Ltd in the communication, power, and new energy industrial chains.

The company's production lines, characterized by their high capacity, minimal labor requirement, low energy consumption, and zero pollution, have reinforced its market competitiveness. In the first half of this year, the company generated a sales turnover of 4.39 billion yuan, an increase of 31.85 percent year-on-year.

Furthermore, Rudong is focusing on attracting projects related to key industries such as new energy, new materials, and new equipment to enhance the local industrial chains.

Tongkun Group's polyester integration project in Yangkou Port, which is a provincial-level mega-industrial project with an investment exceeding 10 billion yuan, has seen remarkable progress.

After three years of construction, all six sets of polyester spinning devices and two devices for producing purified terephthalic acid have commenced operations. In the first half of this year, the project achieved sales of 11.14 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 303.24 percent.

In late February of this year, the fourth phase of Xingi Technology Co Ltd's ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber project began operations, with an annual production capacity of 5,200 metric tons.

Thanks to these projects, Rudong's chemical fiber manufacturing industry has experienced a robust surge, with taxable sales in the first half of this year more than doubling compared to the same period last year.
