Haimen becomes home to two new national farmers' cooperatives
Two farmers' cooperatives in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province were listed as national demonstration farmers' cooperatives, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced on April 12.
The two cooperatives are Haimen Qinghe Cooperative, engaged in the plantation and sales of coarse cereals, and Fanrong Goat Cooperatives, engaged in the breeding, raising, slaughter, and sale of goats.
The district is currently home to more than 600 cooperatives specializing in the plantation of fruits and vegetables, breeding of poultry, and homestays.
The cooperatives are playing a significant role in developing modern agriculture and driving rural vitalization, and authorities will sustain efforts to improve the specialization of the cooperatives over the next three years, said a local official.
