Farmer paintings in Rudong, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, were recently displayed on the online platform National Public Culture Cloud.
Rudong county has been named the "home of Chinese folk culture and art" for five consecutive years for its farmer paintings.

Over the past 15 years, Rudong has continued cultivating more farmer painters and offering training sessions to improve their techniques, providing a significant boost to rural vitalization.
Farmer paintings in the county used to be created by craftsmen on their handiworks. Bricklayers painted fishes and farm produce on stoves and walls and carpenters drew landscapes and birds on bedsides and cupboards. Rudong farmer paintings can also be seen on playing cards.

Therefore, Rudong farmer paintings are quite diverse, include stove paintings, wall paintings, playing card paintings, woodblock paintings, and silk paintings.
All these paintings represent people's desire for a good and healthy life.
Since the county was first named the "home of Chinese folk culture and art" in 2008, 600 farmer paintings by Rudong farmers have been put on display at national and provincial-level art shows.
Rudong plans to double down on the promotion of farmer paintings by continuing to offer free training sessions and art shows to encourage more locals to take up the art.
