Cultural activities create festive atmosphere in Nantong

Cultural facilities in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, will organize various activities to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on Jan 22 this year.
The 39th Cultural Spring Festival is set to kick off on Jan 22, during which more than 40 exhibitions, performances and folk activities will be organized.
During the event, local residents can try out intangible cultural heritage items such as woodblock painting, sugar painting, and blue calico at the Nantong Eminent Figures Museum from Jan 22 to 29, while opera lovers can enjoy themselves at the Nantong Stage Play School from Jan 22 to 23.

The Nantong Library will be open to the public during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday when the library plans to organize activities such as solving lantern riddles and inviting renowned writers to give lectures.
The Nantong Museum is expected to host exhibitions themed on embroidery and the history of Nantong from Jan 12 to March 12.
To stimulate children's interest in traditional Chinese culture, the museum will invite local handicraftsmen to demonstrate how to make Chinese lanterns on Jan 13. During the Spring Festival holiday, the museum will also organize activities centering on hand-painted lord rabbits and traditional Chinese cooking utensils.
Other places, including the Rugao Museum, Jianghai Museum, and Hai'an Museum, will also stage activities to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival.
