Langshan chicken and Langshan eggs in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, made the list of the second group of the 2022 national excellent agricultural products on Sept 23, local media reported.

Langshan chicken is a special local agricultural product with a long history in Rudong.

To advance the development of Langshan chicken, Rudong's breeding farm for Langshan chicken was established in 1959.

The chicken farm later spearheaded the establishment of the association and brand management office of Langshan chicken in 2007.

Due to concerted brand promotion efforts, Langshan chicken was rated as one of China's agro-product geographic indications in 2015 and a Nantong time-honored brand in 2021.

In 2021, the chicken farm teamed up with Yangzhou University and shortened the breeding cycle to about 100 days.

Thanks to advanced breeding technology, the breeding farm can produce more than 200,000 chickens per year.
