Rugao held a promotional livestream for agricultural produce from Yangxian county in Shaanxi province on Nov 4.

The 150-minute event attracted more than 50,000 viewers and resulted in 7,200 orders worth 150,000 yuan ($23,460).

An offline promotional fair was also held at the city's Wuyue Plaza on Nov 5, with an array of specialties from Yangxian, including honey, black rice tea, black rice vinegar and sweet potato noodles, attracting many buyers.

"We appreciate Rugao's efforts to help promote our county's specialties, and our products have been well received," said Zhou Yagang, representative of a company in Yangxian county.

According to Wang Jianyun, a Rugao official aiding Yangxian, it was the first time that Rugao has held such a livestream to help the county's produce enter the eastern market.

Rugao started working with Yangxian to help boost the county's development in 2017. Since then, the governments of the two sides have been cooperating to find ways to stimulate consumption of local agricultural produce and advance the county's economic growth.

Efforts have been made to upgrade the entire industrial chain involving production plants, product processing, packaging, transportation, storage and marketing.

To date, Rugao has helped Yangxian sell more than 20 kinds of organic products, with combined sales revenue of more than 26.9 million yuan.
