Construction of the offshore booster station for the Rudong H2# offshore wind power plant is progressing smoothly and is due to be completed in May and officially handed over in June, according to contractor Strongwind New Energy Equipment Manufacturing Co Ltd.
As a core component of the H2# offshore wind power plant in Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – the offshore booster station is the largest in the province, weighing 3,800 tons.
It is understood that the electric energy generated by the wind turbines will be boosted to 35 kV through transformers, and transmitted to the offshore booster station through submarine cables. There it is boosted to the commonly used 220 kV before being transported to land, which will effectively reduce energy loss during the transmission process.
