The Rudong power supply branch of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co Ltd and the PetroChina Jiangsu Liquefied Natural Gas Co Ltd jointly carried out an anti-accident drill on Sunshine Island at Yangkou Port in Rudong county, to test the comprehensive response capabilities of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) station in terms of power failure prevention, pre-control and emergency handling.
"Jiangsu LNG Station is a vital gas supply station in the west-east natural gas pipeline," Huang Fan, deputy manager of the inspection and maintenance center of the PetroChina Jiangsu Liquefied Natural Gas Co Ltd, said. "The pipeline gas mainly caters to the daily needs of enterprises and residents in East China."
Due to the particularity of its products, the LNG station has such exceptionally high requirements for reliable power supply that no power cuts should occur throughout the year. Once the power supply is interrupted, downstream natural gas users will not be able to use gas normally, and industrial production and residents' lives will be severely affected.
During the drill, the Rudong power supply branch set up multiple faults for key electrical equipment, such as generators, lines and main transformers, at the receiving station, focused on testing the comprehensive response capacities by closely checking changes in the power grid operation mode, quickly judging information about any faults, and monitoring voltage adjustment and the operation of key equipment.
"We hope to further improve the emergency repair capability of emergency maintenance units with the drill," Fan Yongjun, a customer manager of Rudong power supply branch's service center, said.
To better serve key targets such as the receiving station, Rudong branch implements a point-to-point service mode of "one enterprise, one strategy". In addition to daily patrols and fixed anti-accident drills, the company also created a WeChat group to immediately learn of customers' demands and problems in electricity supply to provide more precise services.
