A dedicated vessel for liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport was recently berthed at Rudong LNG wharf in Nantong. The ship's crew, dock workers and the general public were in the good hands of Rudong customs, which takes multiple measures to protect against viral transmission through LNG imports at the same time that it works to keep the foreign trade and energy supply chain stable.

The PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Station in Rudong county, Nantong has received and unloaded Russian LNG ships from the Yamal project five times in 2020, with LNG volume adding up to 336,700 tons.

The Yamal LNG project is the largest energy cooperation program between China and Russia. Begun in 2017, it is 20 percent owned by the China National Petroleum Corporation and 9.9 percent owned by the Silk Road Fund.

According to agreement, PetroChina will import three million tons of LNG from the Yamal project per year from 2019.

The PetroChina Jiangsu Station is a vital point in the Sino-Russian natural gas trade. To ensure the ships are unloaded smoothly and the crews, dock workers and the public are kept safe, Rudong customs has taken multiple actions.

The customs has strengthened the quarantine measures at ports to prevent the import of overseas epidemics and optimized the contact and coordination mechanism on customs clearance inspection. The lab for COVID-19 testing was moved forward to the dock to optimize the detection process and shorten the detection time.
