To help enterprises reduce the losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rudong market supervision administration set up a measurement volunteer team and a 24-hour hotline to provide precise and professional services for enterprises.

Up to now, the team has accumulatively served 817 enterprises door-to-door and verified and calibrated more than 21,500 sets (pieces) of measuring instruments, helping companies improve quality and efficiency.

"In the middle of February, we launched a project for producing surgical masks. In order to ensure that the meltblown cloth feeding ratio, the tightness and comfort of the mask and other indicators were 100 percent up to the standard, we needed help from the measurement department," said Shi Yinrui, a person in charge of quality control in Jiangsu SonaCare Medical Science & Technology Co Ltd.

"The metrology department of the Rudong market supervision administration immediately sent the Guideline for Measurement Management and Standard Application of General Mask Manufacturers, and helped us deploy measurement equipment, select appropriate product standards and improve the quality control system," Shi added.

The volunteer service team provides steward-style services for the companies based on their actual situations. The number of face mask manufacturers in Rudong county has jumped to 32 since the epidemic outbreak. The measurement volunteers provided instructions for each company and carried out employee training on the skills needed to make measurements.
