Two nucleic acid testing labs put into use in Rudong
The only two laboratories qualified to conduct COVID-19 nucleic acid testing in Rudong county were recently put into use.
The Rudong county center for disease control (CDC) has one of the two laboratories. The CDC rebuilt a 100-square-meter lab and changed it into a negative pressure lab equipped with a new air purification air conditioning system with three-stage filtration. Facilities such as double biosafety cabinets, nucleic acid extractors and cryopreservation cabinets are newly added.
All the staff of the microbiology laboratory passed the training and assessment of virus nucleic acid detection technology of the higher-level CDCs, and has practiced operation of the municipal CDC in advance.
The other lab belongs to the county people's hospital. The newly-built lab adopts a new air purification air conditioning system with three-stage filtration to maintain negative pressure isolation in the sample processing area. Normative disinfection measures are strictly implemented to prevent pollution in the lab and ensure the accuracy of inspection results.
The laboratory has various types of imported samplers, clean benches, automatic nucleic acid extraction instruments, automatic amplification instruments and other high-end equipment. All the staff have passed professional training on COVID-19 nucleic acid detection at the provincial clinical testing center and obtained the appropriate certificates.
The operation of the two laboratories provides strong scientific support for in-time testing, marking Rudong's epidemic prevention work entering a new stage.
