An emergency hospital in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province was recently completed after seven days of construction. The hospital is meant to combat the novel coronavirus in the region.

The emergency hospital, covering an area of about 6,800 square meters, is located inside the former inpatient building of the Rudong Hospital of Chinese Medicine. It is now the only hospital in the county allowed to admit novel coronavirus pneumonia patients.

A total of 90 beds have been placed in 59 wards in the isolation section. Suspected patients are placed on the first and second floors, while confirmed patients and those in critical condition are placed on the fourth and fifth floors.

The isolation section consists of a clean area, a semi-contaminated area, and a contaminated area. Medical workers, patients and medical waste are required to observe strict rules regarding the three areas.

Zhang Rongrong, director of the county's publicity department, said that the emergency hospital is expected to improve medical treatment in the county and give locals more confidence in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
