The Hai'an Economic and Technological Development Zone has been recognized as a national new-type industrial demonstration base on a list announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China on Jan 16.

The national title is granted to industrial parks with unique features, high-levels of development, and sky-high profits. Another prerequisite is that they are national leaders in innovation and green development.

The Hai'an Economic and Technological Development Zone made the list due to its strong equipment manufacturing industry. It has built a new center focusing on robots and intelligent manufacturing, which covers an area of 833 hectares, and its sales revenue in the aforementioned industry was around 40 billion yuan ($5.85 billion) in 2019.

A total of 247 enterprises are now based in the development zone, and industrial clusters for industrial robots, automatic facilities, electronic equipment, and more have already been formed.

The development zone was upgraded to national level in July 2012 and has won several national and provincial awards. It has also won two Italian awards granted by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce and the Italy-China Foundation.

The China-Italy Hai'an Ecological Park currently operates in the zone.
