An evening gala for the Chinese New Year was held at Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on "Xiao Nian", or "Minor Chinese New Year", which falls on Jan 29 this year.

Some 380 artists staged an outstanding cultural feast for locals.

The gala, which lasted for three hours, included 18 programs such as dancing shows, sketches, acrobatics and magic performances.

These shows aimed to demonstrate the achievements the county has made in areas such as politics and economy, so as to enhance the sense of happiness of the local people.

Officials of the county including Chen Lei and Zhang Rongrong attended the gala.
