Flocks of migratory birds have arrived in coastal areas of Rudong county, in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province to spend the winter, according to local media.
Wetlands at the coastal areas of the county has been an important transfer station for migratory birds for years.
Statistics show that more than 300 varieties of wild birds including the spoon-billed sandpiper were observed at the county.
Local photographers said that swans and oriental white storks are common "guests" at the county.
Swans, as animals under the second-highest level of national protection, spend the winter in coastal areas such as Jiangsu province every October and flock to Northeast China and Siberia by March every year.
