A signing ceremony for a polymer tantalum capacitor project took place in Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, with the aim of boosting the local high-end electronics sector and enhancing the supply chain for new materials and electronics.

The project was funded by Xingyuan Caizhi (Nantong) New Material Technology with a total investment of 1 billion yuan ($148.78 million).

The project is set to produce compact, high-capacitance, stable polymer tantalum capacitors designed to withstand harsh environments and critical for military, AI computing and electric vehicles.

Once operational, it is expected to achieve technological breakthroughs and secure the supply chain for critical components.

Xingyuan Caizhi has operated a lithium battery separator production base in NETDA. The new capacitor plant will work alongside the base, providing mutual benefits to both businesses. This development advances the company's shift from new energy materials to semiconductor components as a new area of growth.
