Nearly 50 representatives from multinational companies, including Emerson and Veolia Environnement, convened in Nantong, Jiangsu province, from April 1 to 2 to discuss advancements in energy production, equipment manufacturing, transportation and basic materials.
These representatives toured leading green and low-carbon enterprises in Nantong, such as Sieyuan Electric and Xeca Turbo Technologies. They lauded the city's impressive strides in implementing green and low-carbon energy solutions.
The delegation also participated in international cooperation meetings focused on the development of zero-carbon parks in the Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Rudong Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone. Engaging with established companies like Scania and Gold Hongye Paper Group, the discussions explored pioneering fields such as green ammonia and green methanol manufacturing, fostering consensus for future industrial collaboration.
The Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park within the Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone is designed to encompass the entire hydrogen industry chain and has attracted 20 key enterprises to its ecosystem. Meanwhile, the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone is home to China's largest offshore liquefied natural gas energy island, with an annual handling capacity of 7 million metric tons. This facility has established itself as the foremost clean energy hub in the Yangtze River Delta region, aspiring to lead zero-carbon industrial innovation along China's coastline.
Representatives of these participating companies have expressed keen interest in deepening their collaboration with Nantong in carbon reduction and the manufacturing and utilization of green energy. "Nantong not only boasts a unique geographical advantage but also a clear path for green transformation and a pragmatic cooperation platform. We hope to leverage this opportunity to jointly advance the construction of green and low-carbon application scenarios," said a representative from a participating multinational company.
In light of the EU carbon tariff's official implementation and the rapid formation of global trade green barriers, green and low-carbon development has emerged as a core benchmark for international industrial competition and trade cooperation.
As an open coastal city, Nantong integrates green development principles into its investment attraction and foreign capital utilization strategies. The city is actively promoting the construction of zero-carbon parks and green factories. To date, the city has attracted over 3,800 foreign-invested enterprises, including 77 Fortune 500 companies investing in more than 160 projects. This surge in emerging industries is generating significant momentum, laying a robust industrial foundation for the advancement of its green and low-carbon sectors.
