Rudong's LED industry gets boost from Liansheng Optoelectronics expansion
A major LED packaging and manufacturing project by Jiangsu Liansheng Optoelectronics is gaining momentum in Rudong, Jiangsu province, with production now in full swing and expansion efforts advancing steadily.
With a total investment of over 500 million yuan ($70.4 million), the project has begun operating in the Rudong Economic Development Zone. Smart production equipment valued at around 300 million yuan has been installed, enabling the company to establish a full production chain covering LED beads, strips and finished lamps.
The company supplies its products to leading brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi. Once the project reaches full capacity, it is expected to produce 10 billion LED devices and 25 million electronic patch components annually.

The SMD (surface mount technology) bead production lines are running at full capacity, while a COB (chip on board) strip line has been commissioned and the finished lamp section is being expanded, said Zhou Kongli, the company's deputy general manager.
Zhou attributed the decision to set up operations in Rudong to its favorable business environment, strategic location in the Yangtze River Delta industrial hub, well-established LED cluster, and convenient port access for exports.
The company holds multiple patents in phosphor powder, chips and related materials. Unlike many peers that outsource components, Liansheng maintains a closed-loop production system, ensuring complete control over costs and quality.
It aims to exceed 100 million yuan in sales this year and is targeting 200 million yuan in 2027. It is also pursuing smart manufacturing upgrades, with plans to move toward a fully automated "lights-out" factory.
This rapid progress would not have been possible without the strong support of the Rudong Economic Development Zone, Zhou said. Liansheng will continue strengthening its supply chain to inject new momentum into Rudong's high-end electronics manufacturing industry.
