Rudong Customs has stepped up its services to help local manufacturers expedite exports of refrigerants as global demand for cooling products heats up.

Customs officers have cleared a 23.36-metric-ton refrigerant shipment from Jiangsu Sanmei Chemical, a private manufacturer of fluorine-based refrigerants for household and automotive air conditioners in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province.

The goods are now bound for European markets. Over half of the company's products are exported to more than 50 countries and regions.

"As temperatures rise worldwide, demand has surged and orders have climbed steadily since early this year. Faster clearance is critical to keeping exports on track," said Zhan Bingjian, the company's business manager.

The company's new eco-friendly refrigerants deliver zero ozone depletion, he added.

To ease the export rush, Rudong Customs has streamlined procedures by promoting early declaration and appointment-based inspection, significantly shortening clearance times.

"With the efficient support of customs, we've been racing against the heat to accelerate exports," Zhan said. The company exported over 1,600 tons in the previous quarter, up 91.7 percent year-on-year.

In the first five months of 2026, Rudong Customs processed cooling products worth over 110 million yuan ($16.16 million).
