Rudong's tourism market thrives during May Day Holiday
During the just-concluded May Day holiday, Rudong county in Nantong, Jiangsu province, received a total of 608,000 visits and achieved a tourism revenue of 310 million yuan ($45.58 million), an increase of 15.1 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively.
Bencha Ancient Town attracted crowds of visitors by combining technological innovation with its rich cultural heritage. Robot dance performance, bonfire party, pingshu (storytelling), historical drama, tour boat, and other forms offered visitors a rich tour experience. The ancient town recorded over 200,000 visits during the break.
Xiaoyangkou scenic area launched a 17-day camping festival on May 1, inviting visitors to get close to nature and enjoy wild fun. Light shows, lawn parties, outdoor movies, and music concerts added fun to people's camping experiences.

In recent years, various towns and districts in Rudong have leveraged their rural scenery, folk customs, and characteristic festival activities to boost tourism. The one-day wandering plan launched by Caobu town connects blueberry picking, lobster fishing, parent-child activities, and cultural and artistic experiences. During the May Day holiday, the town recorded about 2,000 daily visits and an average daily sales revenue of over 50,000 yuan.
During the May Day holiday, Rudong Seafood Street was also bustling with excitement and energy. From 6 pm to 21 pm every day, many seafood delicacies satisfy the taste buds of diners.
